MetroFuture Strategies

Dear MetroFuture Supporters:

I am pleased to share with you the MetroFuture Implementation Strategies that we presented to members of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) for their review and ratification at the Council meeting on December 2 at Boston’s Hyatt Regency Hotel.

These 13 strategies represent a comprehensive approach to achieving the MetroFuture vision.  The recommendations include short- and long-term action steps for planning, policy and spending changes at every level of government, along with steps that can be taken by the private sector and even by individual households across the region.  Together, they will serve as a critical guide for moving MetroFuture from the development stages into execution, in 2009 and beyond.

We have prepared two documents presenting the implementation strategies: one includes the full text of all 13 strategies; the other is a much shorter outline of recommendations.  While the order of strategies has changed from previous iterations, the topical focus of each has not; the “bookmark” pane that appears when you open the documents will allow you to navigate to those strategies and recommendations of interest to you.  You can alternatively view each strategy on a stand-alone basis by clicking on its title below or on the left.

Thank you for your interest in "Making a Greater Boston Region"!

Sincerely,
Marc Draisen
Executive Director
Metropolitan Area Planning Council
